Summary of Changes from Previous Version

On 19 October 2020, the Australian Parliament passed legislation for the Job-ready Graduates Package reforms to higher education. One of the key aspects of this new legislation is the new progression requirements for all students commencing study from 1 January 2022.

students commencing study in 2022 will need to continue to meet progression requirements in order to maintain eligibility to any form of Commonwealth assistance, including a CSP and any form of HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP. Students who fail to maintain a completion rate above 50% will lose their eligibility once they reach a threshold of completed units. For Bachelor and above, this threshold is 8 units. For any qualification below Bachelor level, the threshold is 4 units. Any unit attempt that incurs a financial liability will count towards the progression requirements.

Changes are proposed to the Admission, Credit and Enrolment Guidelines, Course Progression Rule and Course Progression Procedures
