Summary of Changes from Previous Version

To add clarity and robustness to processes for editorial amendments, it is proposed to include new or
expanded definitions and processes in an updated Course and Unit Design and Approval Policy. These
updates include:
• an expanded definition and process for editorial course amendments. While it is proposed that
most editorial amendments can be classified and implemented by the Curriculum and Academic
Management team, it is accepted that there will be some that require further consideration. It
is therefore proposed to include a process for joint approval between Curriculum and Academic
Management and the relevant Associate Dean Teaching and Learning (as Chair of the Faculty
Education Committee) where an editorial amendment does not fit within one of the designated
categories;
• an expanded definition and process for editorial unit amendments;
• moving the current definitions of new and amended units into the main body of the policy from
the definitions section to aid clarity; and
• requiring annual reporting on the nature of editorial amendments to Curriculum Committee as
part of the annual Monitoring and Compliance Report.
